Pricing is based on volume, not time
Almost every reputable hauler in Orange County prices by how much space your load takes up in the truck — a quarter load, a half load, a full load. Hourly pricing sounds cheaper until a slow crew makes it expensive, which is why volume pricing is the standard.
That means the honest way to quote is to see the pile. Photos texted ahead get you close; an on-site look before loading makes it exact.
Four things that move the price
- Volume — the single biggest factor. How much of the truck does it fill?
- Weight — dirt, concrete, tile and roofing hit truck weight limits long before they fill the space, so they are priced separately.
- Access and labor — a second-floor condo carry-out or a backyard down a stair run takes more crew time than a driveway pickup.
- Disposal fees — mattresses, refrigerants, e-waste and tires carry mandated handling costs that any hauler has to pass through.
Questions to ask before you book
- Is the quote all-in, including labor and dump fees?
- Will the price change after loading starts?
- Do I have to move anything to the curb myself?
- What happens to items that could be donated or recycled?
